Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Basil Borcea (ranked 1363 p4p, 189 weight class) and Rahim Shabazz (ranked 2408 p4p, 319 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Basil Borcea!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rahim Shabazz!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Borcea walks into a stiff left hand from Shabazz.
Shabazz throws a leg kick but Borcea sees it coming and moves out of range.
Borcea misses the jab.
Borcea closes the distance and clinches.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Shabazz has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Shabazz with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Borcea lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A right handed body shot lands from Borcea.
Shabazz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Borcea avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Shabazz scores with a shoulder strike.
Shabazz can't find room to land a body shot as Borcea controls the action.
Shabazz misses with a punch to the body.
Shabazz lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Borcea backwards.
Shabazz has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Borcea regains guard immediately.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Borcea is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Shabazz advances position into side control!
Shabazz has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Borcea is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Shabazz yanks on the arm and Borcea is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Shabazz.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rahim Shabazz!
