PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karl Bach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Federov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bach comes into the arena with care bears countdown blaring out of the sound system. Alexander Federov will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Federov!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bach swats away the attempt to clinch by Federov.
Federov tries to clinch up.
Bach keeps the fight on the outside.

Federov forces Bach back against the cage and clinches.
Bach blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Bach on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Bach is looking to break free of the clinch but Federov has double underhooks.
Bach goes for a takedown in the clinch but Federov prevents it.
Federov looking to throw knees to the head but Bach is blocking nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Federov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Federov wants to hold on but Bach pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bach goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Federov is on top in guard.

Federov lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bach!
Bach bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Bach has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Federov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bach can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Federov wants to hit a switch here but Bach passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Federov there!

Bach is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Federov can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Bach fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Bach is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Federov has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Bach postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Federov looks a forlorn figure.
Karl Bach overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Federov tries to hold on but Bach pushes him away.
Bach breaks from Federov's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Federov is trying to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karl Bach dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Bach shoots in looking for a takedown. Federov tries to sprawl out of it but Bach keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Federov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Alexander Federov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bach tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Federov swivels and escapes.

Alexander Federov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bach remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Bach wants to control but Federov is keeping him busy.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bach, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
