Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jose Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Paradise! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paradise just misses with a punch to the body.
Paradise jabs Silva right on the nose. Silva blinks but takes it well. Paradise throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.
Silva went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Paradise walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Silva checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Paradise throws a sloppy head kick and Silva moves out of range easily. Silva is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Paradise. Paradise throws a jab when Silva was well out of range. Paradise lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Silva circles away quickly and effectively. Silva seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. A clash of legs there as Silva blocks the low kick. Silva seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Silva checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva checks a leg kick. Silva avoids a kick to the body.
Paradise attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Paradise thows a leg kick but Silva checks it and Silva counters with a left and a right that stings Paradise. Silva avoids a kick to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva blocks a head kick by Paradise.
Paradise moves into range and connects with a jab. Silva shoots in but Paradise avoids the takedown attempt easily. Paradise does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. It looked like Silva was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Paradise misses with a low kick. Silva wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Silva bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Paradise throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.
Silva looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Silva is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Paradise is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard. Paradise really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Paradise has managed to free his arm - good work. Paradise is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Silva is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Paradise is just riding it out for now. Silva eventually gives up the hold. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Paradise misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Silva is working for a submission of some sort.

Silva prevents Paradise from improving his position. Silva wants to work for an arm triangle but Paradise is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Paradise has managed to free his arm - good work. Silva is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Paradise defends it well. Paradise trying to hold on to Silva's head to control him but Silva postures up.
Silva has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Paradise defend it? Silva steps over the head and cranks it - Paradise is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Silva!
