PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Miles (ranked 4753 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ruslan Temirov (ranked 6778 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonathan Miles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ruslan Temirov!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miles clinches.
Miles throws a head punch that misses.

Temirov pulls guard.
Miles has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Temirov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Miles wants to control from the top but Temirov keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Miles drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Temirov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Miles has Temirov in his guard.

Temirov wants to control from the top but Miles keeps moving.

Miles knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Temirov on the ground.

Miles wants to hit a switch here but Temirov passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Miles there!

Miles is looking to improve his position but Temirov isn't that keen on the idea.
Miles is squirming around, avoiding Temirov's attempts to control the action.

Temirov misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Temirov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Miles is looking to escape.
Miles tries to hold on but Temirov pushes him away.
Temirov prevents Miles from getting the reversal.
Miles tries to lock up and control but Temirov gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Miles wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Temirov punches the canvas rather than the man.
Miles wants to control his opponent's hands but Temirov gets his hands free.
You can see the frustration on Miles's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Temirov is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Miles defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Temirov wants to control but Miles is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ruslan Temirov dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Temirov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Miles misses with a few strikes there.
Temirov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Miles avoids it really well and circles away.
Miles shoots for a takedown but Temirov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Temirov throws a counter combo.

Miles has taken the fight to the clinch.
Miles lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Temirov.
Temirov tries to stall but Miles uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Miles jumps guard and drags Temirov to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Temirov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Miles keeps working.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Miles holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Temirov tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Temirov wants to finish this one by submission but Miles is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Temirov.

Temirov is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Ruslan Temirov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Miles looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Temirov is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Miles pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Jonathan Miles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ruslan Temirov.

Temirov shoots for a double leg takedown but Miles sprawls well. He's pushed Temirov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

No luck for Temirov with that takedown attempt.
Miles appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Miles dives in and grabs Temirov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Temirov pushes down on Miles's head and hops out.
Temirov unleashes a big counter combination but Miles bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Miles shoots for a double leg takedown but Temirov sprawls well. He's pushed Miles's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Miles turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Temirov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Temirov tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Miles listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Temirov shoots in for a takedown but Miles shows good takedown defense.
Miles seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Miles lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The fighters are battling for position here. Temirov manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Miles stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Temirov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jonathan Miles showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Temirov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
