Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Martinez (ranked 2735 p4p, 114 weight class) and Mike McMonster (ranked 4065 p4p, 158 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fernando Martinez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike McMonster! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martinez misses with a straight left. McMonster connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that McMonster has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. A jab from McMonster finds it's way through Martinez's defenses. Martinez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Martinez has managed to clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Martinez. Martinez throws a punch but it's blocked by McMonster. McMonster blocks the elbow strike.
Martinez looks to throw an elbow but misses. Martinez leaning his opponent against the cage. I was talking to Martinez's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. McMonster tries a body shot but Martinez blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Martinez misses with a short punch on the inside. Martinez misses with a body punch.
Martinez working some nice short punches in the clinch. McMonster blocks a punch to the side of the head.
McMonster tries for a takedown but Martinez manages to get underhooks.
McMonster lands a right hand that snaps the head of Martinez backwards.
That's one minute gone in the round. McMonster tries to throw a body punch but Martinez avoids it by throwing McMonster back against the cage. Martinez prevents a body shot from McMonster. A short right hand to the side of the head by Martinez. McMonster blocks a body shot from Martinez. A short left from McMonster. Nice body punch from McMonster. Martinez blocks a punch to the side of the head.
McMonster struggles to land a body shot inside as Martinez controls his hands.
McMonster is struggling to control the position. McMonster tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Martinez's elbow. McMonster escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Martinez throws a hook but McMonster avoids it easily. Martinez scores with a nice strike. McMonster steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Martinez. McMonster dips to his left and cracks Martinez with an uppercut! McMonster avoids the body shot from Martinez.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Martinez just misses with a punch to the body.
And McMonster tries to counter it with a takedown but Martinez pushes his down on his head and steps out. McMonster pushes Martinez up against the cage in a clinch. McMonster lands a right hand that snaps the head of Martinez backwards. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for McMonster. McMonster misses with a punch to the body.
McMonster prevents a body shot from Martinez. McMonster prevents a body shot from Martinez. McMonster's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Martinez throws a lazy uppercut
and McMonster counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Martinez walks into a straight right hand from McMonster. McMonster misses with a jab, cross combination.
McMonster misses with an uppercut. Fernando Martinez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. McMonster missing with a left hand there. Martinez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. McMonster throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Martinez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. McMonster is in Martinez's guard. McMonster connects with a couple of short punches. Martinez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McMonster makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McMonster postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. McMonster trying to control but Martinez is working from the bottom. McMonster throws a big right hand that misses. Martinez is breathing heavily. McMonster throwing strikes but missing. McMonster advances position into side control! McMonster working the head with strikes. Martinez takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Martinez is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McMonster is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Martinez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. McMonster is working Martinez over with some ground and pound from side control.
Martinez is rocked! McMonster in side control lands a decent elbow. McMonster scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Martinez is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and McMonster can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
