Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Giannis Souvlakias! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cheech Marion! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marion keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Marion gets a clinch. Souvlakias is trying to pull guard but Marion has him pressed against the cage. Souvlakias keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Marion's efforts to push away. Marion content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Souvlakias has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Marion clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Marion takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Marion really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Souvlakias. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Marion looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Souvlakias has the hooks in. Marion is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
That's one minute gone in the round. Souvlakias slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Souvlakias throwing wild punches that miss their target. Souvlakias working for a choke but Marion is defending well. Marion just trying to survive but Souvlakias is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marion tries to break free.
Souvlakias controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marion prevents Souvlakias from getting a body triangle. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Souvlakias has the hooks in. Marion is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marion trying to control the position but Souvlakias manages to sink in the hooks. Marion is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Souvlakias is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Marion with him. Marion is trying to defend but Souvlakias has an arm under the chin now! Marion grimaces and is forced to tap out!
