Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Wood (ranked 4859 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Davis (ranked 4652 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Davis!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis scores with a sloppy right hand. Wood should have avoided that one.

Davis rushes Wood and presses him up against the cage.

Wood gets control of Davis's arms and successfully pulls guard. Wood will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Wood looking for a sweep. Not yet Wood, not yet.
Wood is working hard here to advance position.
Davis wants to stand but Wood has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Wood wants to improve his position but instead Davis has moved into half guard.
Davis seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wood is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Wood sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Davis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wood's head.
Davis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wood keeps working.
Wood slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Wood is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Wood is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Davis throws a big right hand that misses.
Wood is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wood is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A close round but Mark Davis will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Davis moves into the clinch.

Wood decides to pull guard.

Davis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Davis wants to control from the top but Wood keeps moving.
Wood is looking to sweep but instead, Davis has passed into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wood tries to get to full guard but Davis has control of the leg.
Davis looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Wood on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wood tries to get out of the position.

Wood wants to sweep here but Davis controlling him for the moment.

Wood is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Ricky Wood overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Davis closes the distance and clinches.
Wood keeps control of Davis as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Wood tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Davis gets control of Wood's arms and successfully pulls guard. Davis will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wood prevents Davis from getting back to his feet.
Davis keeping moving, preventing Wood from controlling successfully.
Wood throws an elbow that misses. Davis uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wood's guard. Nice move by Davis!

Wood wants to sweep but no luck.

Davis stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Davis lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Davis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Wood closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Davis's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wood accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Wood wants to pass the guard but Davis is keeping the position.
Wood trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom.
Wood pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davis is keeping the position for now.

Wood with a flurry of punches that miss.
Davis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Wood passes Davis's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Davis regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Wood.
Wood pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davis is keeping the position for now.

Wood is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

A close second round but Mark Davis will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Davis throws some wild stikes that Wood manages to avoid easily.

Wood bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Davis lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Davis looks like he's trying to stand up.
Mark Davis is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ricky Wood.
I think Davis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
