Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Malaki Novez!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bridges clinches up with Novez and pushes him back against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Bridges's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Bridges is trying to break the clinch but Novez is controlling him.

A punch combination from Bridges misses.
Jamie Bridges seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bridges misses with a double jab

and Novez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Novez in particular looking to stall.
Bridges knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Novez on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Novez moves into full mount! Bridges won't be happy about that!

Let's hope that Novez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
It looks like Novez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Novez wants to finish this one by submission but Bridges is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Novez.

Novez working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Bridges looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Novez! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Malaki Novez!
A less than humble Malaki Novez misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
In defeat, Jamie Bridges stepped up to the mic, saying 'Atleast I'm not in a cancer room!'.
