PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Deontay Fury (ranked 4597 p4p, 380 weight class) and Chris Columbus (ranked 7209 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Deontay Fury has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Deontay Fury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chris Columbus!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fury shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Columbus looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Fury moves in looking to clinch but Columbus pushes him off.
Columbus drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Fury defends it well.
Fury shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Columbus with the counter takedown but Fury avoids it easily.
Fury swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Columbus holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Fury is fighting off a takedown attempt but Columbus is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Fury to the mat. Fury regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Fury throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Fury working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Columbus doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Columbus manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Columbus is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Columbus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fury swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Columbus wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fury, who protects the arm well.

Fury is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Columbus is thwarting Fury's attempts to control the position.
Fury makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fury.

Columbus wants to control from the top but Fury keeps moving.
Columbus working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Fury's head.

Fury is fighting to break Columbus's control of his arms but Columbus is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Fury stands up and waves to Columbus to follow him.
Columbus has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Columbus attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Fury shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Columbus as he jumps to the side.

Columbus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fury. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Columbus wants to advance to full mount but Fury doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Well Columbus has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
