Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ronnie Dekkers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Malaki Novez!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Novez. No joy for Dekkers on that attempt.
Novez is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Novez has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Dekkers moves into the clinch.
Dekkers wants to break the clinch but can't.

Novez lands a takedown into guard.
Novez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Let's hope that Novez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Novez postures up.

Novez showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Novez stands and throws Dekkers's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Novez throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Dekkers gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Novez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Novez throwing strikes here but Dekkers is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Dekkers wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Novez is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Novez!

After the fight, Malaki Novez was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
