Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dave Glasser (ranked 7256 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francois Marais (ranked 2309 p4p, 0 weight class). Francois Marais will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dave Glasser! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Francois Marais! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Glasser misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Marais fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Glasser to the ground. Marais is now in Glasser's guard. We've been hearing good reports from Glasser's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Glasser is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Glasser can't keep his opponent in guard - Marais advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Marais is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Glasser doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Marais. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marais is thwarting Glasser's attempts to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marais performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Marais passes to side control. Marais working away. Glasser regains half guard. Marais trying to control the action but Glasser is working from the bottom. Marais passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marais has hold of Glasser's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Glasser manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Marais avoids the attempt from Glasser to control. Marais fails to advance to Glasser's back. Marais looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Marais is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Glasser has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Glasser!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marais is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Glasser defends well. Glasser throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Marais works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Glasser trying to control but Marais is working from the bottom. Marais keeping full guard, as Glasser tries to pass. Glasser cracks Marais with a solid left hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Marais is looking for a triangle but Glasser pushes his legs off easily.
Marais wants to sweep here but Glasser controlling him for the moment. Marais is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Glasser gets full guard. Marais advances to half guard. Marais is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Glasser has managed to free his arm - good work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Glasser manages to get to full guard.

Glasser shoots for a takedown but Marais saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Marais has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Glasser tries for a takedown but Marais circles away easily and Marais counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Glasser! Glasser is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Marais off and has taken his back! Marais is keeping busy.
Glasser is trying to stick to Marais's back but Marais is turning into Glasser. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Glasser's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Marais. Marais is pushing down on Glasser's leg trying to pass to half guard. Glasser is fighting to maintain full guard but Marais has managed to sneak the leg through. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Glasser wants to control but Marais is keeping busy and won't allow it. Marais controlling the action here. Glasser has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Marais is working away from the top position though. Marais is working for a kimura but Glasser is defending it quite comfortably.

Glasser has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Marais is working away from the top position though. Marais is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Marais is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Glasser defends it well. Glasser is staying active underneath Marais, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Glasser is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Marais's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Marais's back! Marais rolls, trying to escape but Glasser keeps control of the position.

He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Glasser is trying to control. Marais wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Glasser throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marais wants to get back to full guard. Marais wants to control but Glasser is keeping busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Marais has a hand on Glasser's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Glasser takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Glasser can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Marais is looking to escape. Glasser unloads with some shots from mount but Marais bucks and avoids them well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Marais working to try and regain half guard.

A close second round but Francois Marais will probably get the nod - 10:9. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Glasser will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Glasser tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Marais swivels and escapes. Marais throws out a counter right but Glasser avoids it with no problem. Glasser shoots in and gets a takedown into Marais's guard. Marais wants to sweep but no luck. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Marais stuffs the takedown attempt from Glasser. Glasser gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Glasser. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Marais throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Glasser tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Marais is in Glasser's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Glasser is trying to control the position but Marais postures up. Francois Marais has got the better of the ground game so far. Marais forces his way into half guard. Marais is pressing down on Glasser's thigh, looking to free his foot. Glasser is holding on for now. Marais prevents Glasser from improving his position. Marais seems to be looking for submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Glasser gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Dave Glasser has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Francois Marais is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Glasser wants to sweep but no luck.
And that's the end of the fight! Francois Marais comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Marais has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
