Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alvaro Marroquin (ranked 5916 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arlan Tolkynbekov (ranked 3503 p4p, 0 weight class). Tolkynbekov has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Arlan Tolkynbekov is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alvaro Marroquin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Arlan Tolkynbekov! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Bruno Lombardi and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tolkynbekov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Tolkynbekov shoots in but no luck this time. Tolkynbekov looks winded! Tolkynbekov fails with the takedown and Marroquin counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Alvaro Marroquin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arlan Tolkynbekov. Marroquin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tolkynbekov defends it nicely. Tolkynbekov is clearly looking to counter with head kicks. Marroquin misses with a takedown attempt - Tolkynbekov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. No luck with that takedown attempt from Tolkynbekov. Arlan Tolkynbekov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tolkynbekov is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Marroquin.

Marroquin goes for a double leg but Tolkynbekov avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Tolkynbekov continues to drive forward. Tolkynbekov fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Marroquin, pushing him back against the cage.

Tolkynbekov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Marroquin shoots for a double leg takedown but Tolkynbekov sprawls well. He's pushed Marroquin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Marroquin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tolkynbekov tries to avoid it but Marroquin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tolkynbekov to the ground. Tolkynbekov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Tolkynbekov shoots in for a double leg but Marroquin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Marroquin shoots in and drives through. Tolkynbekov sprawls well. Nice takedown defense from Tolkynbekov. No joy for Marroquin on that attempt. Tolkynbekov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Marroquin as he jumps to the side. Marroquin avoids the head kick by Tolkynbekov.
Marroquin drops down looking for a counter takedown but Tolkynbekov sprawls and moves away. Tolkynbekov shoots for a double leg takedown but Marroquin sprawls well. He's pushed Tolkynbekov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Marroquin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tolkynbekov pinned against the cage. Tolkynbekov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Tolkynbekov unleashes a big counter combination but Marroquin bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tolkynbekov moves into range and clinches up with Marroquin. Tolkynbekov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Marroquin is struggling to control the position. Tolkynbekov decides to pull guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Marroquin passes Tolkynbekov's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tolkynbekov is trying to maintain the position but Marroquin is very close to passing his half guard. Tolkynbekov is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Marroquin jumps into side control! Tolkynbekov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marroquin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Marroquin wants to control but Tolkynbekov is keeping him busy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marroquin is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Tolkynbekov tries to escape but Marroquin is in control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Marroquin fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Marroquin is looking to take a break and control but Tolkynbekov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Marroquin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Tolkynbekov struggling a bit here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Marroquin walks away with a smile on his face. Tolkynbekov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Marroquin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Tolkynbekov bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Marroquin explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Tolkynbekov tries to bum rush Marroquin with a series of wild strikes but Marroquin uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Tolkynbekov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Marroquin manages to escape and get back to his feet! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Tolkynbekov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Marroquin looking to control.
Tolkynbekov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tolkynbekov trying to control the position from guard on top but Marroquin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marroquin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tolkynbekov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tolkynbekov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Tolkynbekov wants to stand but Marroquin is controlling his posture from full guard. Tolkynbekov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Marroquin works some decent striking defense from the bottom. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

And that's the end of the fight! Arlan Tolkynbekov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Tolkynbekov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
