Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Usman Al Naemi (ranked 3268 p4p, 345 weight class) and Douglas Dannis (ranked 3431 p4p, 356 weight class). Douglas Dannis acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Usman Al Naemi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Douglas Dannis!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al Naemi looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Al Naemi wants to clinch.
Al Naemi misses with a leg kick
and Dannis counters with a nice uppercut.
Al Naemi has his takedown stuffed
and Dannis counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Dannis connects with a looping right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dannis lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Al Naemi throws a left and a right that both miss
and Dannis counters with a left to the body.

Al Naemi gets caught flat footed, as Dannis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Dannis is standing up over Al Naemi. Al Naemi looks to escape but Dannis dives into side control.

My spies in Navy Street MMA inform me that Dannis has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Dannis throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Al Naemi tries to lock up and control but Dannis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Let's hope that Dannis has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Dannis is taking a breather. Al Naemi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dannis tries to pass to full mount but Al Naemi defends it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Al Naemi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Dannis to counter with a crisp jab.

Dannis moves into range and clinches up with Al Naemi.
Dannis will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Al Naemi up against the ropes.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A head kick misses from Al Naemi.

and Dannis counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Al Naemi has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Dannis finds it's way round the side to connect with Al Naemi's head.

Dannis manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Al Naemi on his heels. He'll look to pass Al Naemi's guard now, I'm sure.
Al Naemi wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Dannis is now in half guard.

Al Naemi tries to reverse the position but Dannis maintains control.
Dannis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Dannis.

Dannis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Douglas Dannis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Al Naemi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Al Naemi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dannis pinned against the ropes. Dannis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Dannis only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Usman Al Naemi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Al Naemi takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

and Dannis counters with a right hand to the body.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Douglas Dannis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dannis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
