Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Francisco Cassel (ranked 2976 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 3235 p4p, 0 weight class). Mauricio Rua will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Francisco Cassel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mauricio Rua! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Winston Alpacca and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cassel looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Cassel trying to control the pace. Cassel is nestled in close to Rua, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Cassel keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Cassel's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Cassel is looking to advance position but Rua won't allow it. Cassel is figuring out what he wants to do next. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cassel seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rua for as long as he can get away with. Cassel trying to mount his opponent but Rua defends it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua tries to roll over but Cassel keeps him under control. Cassel with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Cassel works his way into full mount! Cassel throwing strikes but Rua recovers to half guard. A much better position. Rua wants to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cassel takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Cassel thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Cassel trying to mount his opponent but Rua defends it. Rua is defending against the submission attempts here by Cassel.
Cassel controlling the pace. Cassel trying to advance position but Rua counters by regaining guard. Rua can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cassel controls the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua is trying to keep Cassel in close.
Cassel working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Cassel missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Cassel thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Cassel showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Cassel with a nice head shot there. Cassel stays in close to Rua's body and controls the position. Further stalling from Cassel. Cassel is looking to work some ground and pound but Rua has wrist control. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cassel is stalling in the full guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Cassel throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rua was covering up waiting for the punch and Cassel finishes the takedown easily into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Francisco Cassel dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Rua is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Cassel shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rua as he avoids it easily. Despite the aggression on Rua's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Cassel swats away the attempt to clinch by Rua. Cassel shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rua napping and manages to drive through into side control! Cassel throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Rua works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Francisco Cassel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Well, if Cassel is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Cassel is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rua sees it coming and defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cassel throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Rua wants to control but Cassel is keeping busy.
Cassel controlling the action here. Rua trying to control but Cassel postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Rua on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Cassel slows the pace down in half guard. Rua is defending against the submission attempts here by Cassel.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Cassel is looking to advance position but Rua won't allow it. Cassel perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Cassel wants to pass the guard but Rua is defending well. Cassel is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Rua reverses the position - he's now on top in Cassel's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rua has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Cassel to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Rua is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Cassel pulls down on the head and he's put Rua to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Francisco Cassel!
