Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Marcelinho Lima (ranked 2358 p4p, 244 weight class) and Ricco Torres (ranked 1759 p4p, 194 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; Marcelinho Lima! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; Ricco Torres! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Torres has Lima up against the ropes in a clinch.
Lima goes for a takedown in the clinch but Torres prevents it.
Lima tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Torres smiles and moves away.
Torres moves into range and clinches up with Lima. Torres has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lima regains guard immediately. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Lima (0) vs (2) Torres Lima can't keep his opponent in guard - Torres advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Lima is looking for a sweep. Torres is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Lima is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Rio Fight Academy that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Torres is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Lima has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Torres is working away from the top position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lima is refusing to be controlled, as Torres sits in half guard. Torres wants to work for an arm triangle but Lima is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lima won't allow Torres to pass to mount. Lima manages to get to full guard.
Lima is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Torres rolls with it to try and escape but Lima cranks on the arm and Torres is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
