Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Darrion Vaughn (ranked 4805 p4p, 0 weight class) and Niels Henrik Abel (ranked 4993 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Darrion Vaughn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Niels Henrik Abel!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abel throws a combination that misses
and Vaughn counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Vaughn lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Vaughn tries to land a front kick but Abel steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Abel feints the counter takedown.
Vaughn lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Abel closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Abel lands in his opponent's guard.
Vaughn wants to get back to his feet but Abel is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Abel not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Abel forces his way into half guard.
Vaughn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Abel looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Vaughn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Abel on the ground.

Abel is looking for a kimura but Vaughn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Abel to get the leverage.

Abel wants to work for an arm triangle but Vaughn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Abel is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Abel is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Abel is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Abel moves into full mount! Vaughn won't be happy about that!

Vaughn defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Abel.

Abel looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Abel wants to control the pace but Vaughn is squirming around nicely.

Abel is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Vaughn can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Abel takes Vaughn's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Vaughn is in trouble.

Abel has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Vaughn has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Abel is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Vaughn has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Vaughn slips a straight right by Abel.
Vaughn uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Abel has time to react.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Abel.
Abel has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Abel is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vaughn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Vaughn is pushing Abel's head away, looking to escape. Abel manages to hold on to the position though.

Abel is trying to get an arm triangle but Vaughn is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Abel is looking to take a break and control but Vaughn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Abel is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Vaughn is surviving well by controlling Abel's body position as best he can.

Abel swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Vaughn is now in Abel's guard. A big mistake from Abel there, giving up the dominant position!
Vaughn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Abel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vaughn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Abel looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vaughn is one step ahead there.
Vaughn wanted to stand there but Abel had control of the position.

Vaughn got a little sloppy there for a moment and Abel has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vaughn has managed to get both his arms back between Abel's legs - danger averted.

Vaughn wants to stand but Abel is controlling his posture from full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Abel is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Abel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vaughn defends well.
Abel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Abel works his foot free and advances to mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Abel is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Vaughn to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Vaughn shrugs it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Niels Henrik Abel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Abel is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Abel!
