Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyung Yeon Kang! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leon Pablo Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Reed Andrews and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Sanchez. No joy for Kang on that attempt. Sanchez changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Kang gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Sanchez prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kang breaks the clinch.
Sanchez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. No luck for Kang with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyung Yeon Kang. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kang has managed to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kang is trying to pull guard but Sanchez has him pressed against the cage. Sanchez wants to break the clinch but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round. Kang's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Sanchez gets a clinch. Kang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kang throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sanchez drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kang defends it well. Kang misses with a double jab.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kang. The fight stays on the outside here - Kang looks like he's thinking about clinching though. As Kang backs off Sanchez throws a huge counter combo but Kang manages to avoid it all. Kang throws a front kick that sends Sanchez stumbling back into the cage. Kang shoots in for a double leg but Sanchez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Sanchez wants to counter with a clinch but Kang pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kang takes the fight into the clinch. Kang looking to slow down the pace here. Sanchez lands a right hand. Sanchez gets underhooks to prevent Kang's takedown attempt.

Sanchez has had enough of the clinch but Kang keeps him there for the moment. Sanchez is trying to drag Kang to the mat but Kang just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Sanchez is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kang tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Sanchez's elbow. Kang tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sanchez smiles and moves away.
Kang throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sanchez's waist but Sanchez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kang off to one side. Kang is breathing heavily. Horrible takedown attempt by Sanchez or perhaps it was just good defense by Kang, which made it look bad. Kang appears to be looking for a big counter. Kang shoots for a double leg takedown but Sanchez sprawls well. He's pushed Kang's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Kang works the jab nicely. Sanchez shoots for a takedown but Kang saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Kang fails with the takedown and Sanchez counters with a right hand to the body. No luck with that takedown attempt from Sanchez.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kang has a takedown stuffed. Sanchez unleashes a big counter combination but Kang bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Kang wants to clinch and Sanchez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Sanchez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kang defends it nicely. Kang seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kang. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sanchez shoots in looking for a takedown but Kang manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sanchez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Kang shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sanchez but Sanchez pushes him off and we're back to square one. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Kyung Yeon Kang will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Horrible takedown attempt by Sanchez or perhaps it was just good defense by Kang, which made it look bad. Kang throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Kang displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sanchez. Kang shoots for a takedown but Sanchez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Kang misses with a series of wild punches.
Kang is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sanchez can do to turn this around? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kang tests Sanchez's chin there with a solid looking shot.

A punch combination from Kang misses. Kang has managed to clinch.
Kang pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A jab from Kang finds it's way through Sanchez's defenses. Kang shoots for a double leg takedown but Sanchez sprawls well. He's pushed Kang's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Kang sets himself, and Sanchez steps forward looking for the clinch! Kang avoids it this time. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The fight moves into the clinch position. Sanchez is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Sanchez is trying to pull guard but Kang has him pressed against the cage. Kyung Yeon Kang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leon Pablo Sanchez. Kang tries to pull guard but Sanchez holds him up against the cage and eventually Kang drops back down to his feet.
Kang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kang plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Kang circles away from the clinch attempt.
As Sanchez tries to get set, Kang tries to push him back and clinch up but Sanchez manages to avoid the attempt. Kang clinches with his opponent.
Kang fails to pull guard.
Sanchez wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Sanchez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sanchez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Sanchez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kang wants to stand but Sanchez is controlling his posture from full guard. Kang is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kang loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kang has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kang has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sanchez is proving hard to escape from. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez trying to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Kang tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Sanchez defends well and Kang ends up having to push Sanchez into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Sanchez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Sanchez closes the distance and lands a one-two. Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kang paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kang is looking to clinch. Kang gets in close and instigates a clinch. Kang pulls Sanchez into guard.
Sanchez controls from within his opponent's guard. Kang controlling Sanchez's posture. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kyung Yeon Kang dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Sanchez dives in and grabs Kang's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kang pushes down on Sanchez's head and hops out. Kang throws a body shot but no joy. Kang drives through and clinches with Sanchez against the cage.
Kang breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kang swings for the body but Sanchez moves out of range.

Sanchez is controlling Kang's posture. Kang seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Kang passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.

The fighters are battling for position here. Sanchez manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanchez looking to control.
Kang wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving. Kang got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sanchez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kang has managed to get both his arms back between Sanchez's legs - danger averted. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Sanchez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Kang working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Kang turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Kang shoots in looking for a takedown but Sanchez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kang's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Kyung Yeon Kang is winning the standup battle so far. Kang throws a body punch but Sanchez moves out of range. Kang closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sanchez circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyung Yeon Kang. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kang misses with a head kick.
Kang takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Sanchez fails with a takedown attempt. Kang throws a counter high kick but Sanchez was just alert enough to avoid it. Kang keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Sanchez shoots for a takedown but Kang saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Sanchez. Kang swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kang will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Kang has closed the distance and engaged Sanchez in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Sanchez's face as he tries to break the clinch. Kang manages to break the clinch.

Kyung Yeon Kang is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kang throws a head kick that Sanchez semi-blocks.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sanchez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kang swivels and escapes. Kang shoots in but Sanchez avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Kyung Yeon Kang showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kang, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
