Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Theo Andersson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Arnie Thompsin!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Andersson.

Andersson looking to score a takedown here. Thompsin is defending well but Andersson drives through and ends up in Thompsin's guard.
Thompsin wants to sweep but no luck.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Thompsin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Thompsin looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Andersson passes into side control.

Andersson stands up.

Thompsin drives through with a takedown into guard.
Thompsin throwing strikes from guard but Andersson blocks nicely.
Thompsin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Andersson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Andersson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Thompsin's guard.

Thompsin is looking for a triangle but Andersson pushes his legs off easily.

Thompsin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Andersson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Thompsin throws his legs up looking for a submission but Andersson uses it to pass to side control.

Andersson stands up and beckons Thompsin to his feet.

Andersson gets caught flat footed, as Thompsin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Andersson controls Thompsin momentarily but Thompsin frees himself.
Andersson wants to sweep here but Thompsin controlling him for the moment.
Thompsin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Andersson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Thompsin manages to get himself to full guard.


The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Thompsin has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Andersson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Thompsin.
Thompsin is looking for a sweep.

Andersson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Andersson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Thompsin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Andersson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Thompsin is not content to let Andersson control the position.
Thompsin tries to bench press Andersson off him but Andersson keeps the position.
Andersson gets to mount! Thompsin was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Thompsin bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Thompsin is fighting to break Andersson's control of his arms but Andersson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Thompsin lands a couple of digs.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Andersson is on top in guard.

Thompsin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Thompsin is looking for a triangle but Andersson pushes his legs off easily.

Thompsin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Andersson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Andersson wants to control from the top but Thompsin keeps moving.

Thompsin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Andersson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Andersson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Andersson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Andersson throws a strike aimed at the side of Thompsin's head but Thompsin avoids it well.
Thompsin managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Andersson.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thompsin is trying to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Andersson is looking to take a break and control but Thompsin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Thompsin is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Andersson off and has taken his back!
Thompsin is punishing Andersson with strikes - can he finish him?!
Thompsin is trying to stick to Andersson's back but Andersson is turning into Thompsin. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Thompsin's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Andersson.

Andersson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Thompsin manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Andersson works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Thompsin wants to get back to full guard but Andersson has passed into side control.
Andersson wants to control but Thompsin is keeping him busy.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Andersson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Thompsin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Andersson manages to get himself to full guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Thompsin loads up on a big left hand. Andersson felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Thompsin looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Andersson can't hide his disappointment, as Thompsin celebrates the victory.
