PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bart Cubbedge (ranked 2212 p4p, 251 weight class) and Segey Taranin (ranked 3577 p4p, 376 weight class). Segey Taranin told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Taranin does no damage.
Cubbedge throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nice uppercut there from Cubbedge .
Cubbedge changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Cubbedge closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Taranin to the mat! Taranin manages to get full guard.
Cubbedge passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Taranin trying to remain calm as Cubbedge controls from the top position.
Cubbedge is looking to take a break and control but Taranin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cubbedge tries to advance to mount but can't.
Cubbedge is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Taranin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Taranin is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Taranin sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Taranin looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Taranin wants to improve his position but Cubbedge is controlling well.
Cubbedge trying to control from Taranin's half guard. Taranin has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Taranin throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Taranin lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Cubbedge controls Taranin momentarily but Taranin frees himself.
Cubbedge working a defensive guard but Taranin manages to pass into side control anyway.
Taranin in side control lands a decent elbow.
Cubbedge can't do much from the bottom here.
Cubbedge takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Taranin grinds an elbow into Cubbedge 's temple.
Cubbedge is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Taranin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cubbedge , who protects the arm well.

Taranin is looking to take a break and control but Cubbedge is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cubbedge regains half guard.
Cubbedge strikes from the bottom but Taranin passes into mount!
Cubbedge is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Meathead Garage, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Cubbedge tries to hold on but Taranin pushes him away.
Taranin looking to finish Cubbedge with some ground and pound. This is bad for Cubbedge !
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Taranin cracks Cubbedge with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
