Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Niels Henrik Abel!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Geroge Turner!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner leaves Abel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Abel looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Turner is fending him off so far but Abel persists. Nope, Turner circles away and we're back to standing.
Abel throws a head kick that misses.
Turner connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Turner lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Turner feints a jab promting Abel to slip. Turner then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Abel slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Abel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Turner bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Abel's head backwards.

Abel throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Turner was covering up waiting for the punch and Abel finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Turner is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Abel is aware though and is defending well.

Turner isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Abel stacks Turner on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Abel!

Abel is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Turner has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Turner!

Turner seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

You can see the frustration on Turner's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Abel goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Turner has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Abel but great work by Turner.

Turner wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Abel, who protects the arm well.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Turner connects with a nice short shot to Abel's temple.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Turner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Abel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Turner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
