Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Torres (ranked 543 p4p, 77 weight class) and Kobayashi Jin (ranked 187 p4p, 28 weight class). Torres comes to the cage accompanied by Juaneco y su Combo - Mujer Hilandera. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gabriel Torres!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kobayashi Jin!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Aafke Stam and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jin connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Jin connects with a nice looking jab.
Kobayashi Jin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice uppercut there from Jin.
Jin walks into a jab.
Torres walks into a left hand.
Torres moves away from the strike by Jin.
Jin looks to score with a jab to the body but Torres is just out of range.
A counter left hand to the body from Torres misses its target.
A jab from Jin finds it's way through Torres's defenses.
Jin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Torres moves away.
Jin scores with a nice head shot.
Torres seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

and Torres connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jin stuffs the takedown.
Torres jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Torres moves into range and connects with a jab.

Jin is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Torres with a body shot.

Jin throws a jab but it's blocked by Torres.
Jin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The fighters circling - Jin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Jin throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

and Jin counters with a straight right hand.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jin. Torres does a little dance to reset his feet.
Torres takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Jin shoots in for a takedown but Torres shows good takedown defense.
Torres fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Torres ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jin moves away.
Jin misses with a looping right.
Jin bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jin throws a big shot that misses.
Jin ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Torres takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Torres misses with a left hand

and Jin counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jin.
Jin postures up.
Jin trying to control the position from guard on top but Torres is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Torres is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Torres not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Torres working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Torres is trying to keep Jin in close.

Jin wants to control from the top but Torres keeps moving.
Jin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Torres swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Jin is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Torres had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Torres staying out of range there.
Torres half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Torres takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Jin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Torres throws out the jab.

Torres gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jin to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Torres wants to sweep but no luck.
Jin stays in close to Torres's body and controls the position.
Jin wants to pass the guard but Torres is keeping the position.

Torres has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Torres looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Kobayashi Jin dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Jin tests Torres's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Jin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Torres just misses with a punch to the body.

and Jin counters with a stiff right hand.
Jin takes one to the chin there.
Jin moves out of range of the strikes.
Torres avoids the body shot from Jin.
Torres swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Torres takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Torres misses the jab.
Jin throws a lazy right hand but Torres sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Jin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Torres.
A lazy left from Torres finds it's target.

Jin lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Torres keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Jin.
Torres throws a shot from downtown. Jin moves away and avoids it.

Torres gets caught flat footed, as Jin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Torres working for a triangle but Jin defends it easily.

Torres escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Torres keeping moving, preventing Jin from controlling successfully.
Jin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Torres is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jin felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Jin is trying to get back to full guard.
Torres moves into full mount! Jin won't be happy about that!
Jin is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Torres trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kobayashi Jin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Torres fails to take his opponent's back.

Jin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Torres sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Jin tries to lock up and control but Torres gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Torres wants to take Jin's back here but Jin is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Jin keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jin is still trying to improve position.

Torres fails to advance to Jin's back.
Jin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gabriel Torres will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Torres uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jin.
It looked like Torres was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Jin.
Torres works Jin's body with a nice hook.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Torres, as that shot connected.

Torres throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jin sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Torres manages to avoid it.

Jin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Torres is trying to improve his position.

Jin is thwarting Torres's attempts to control the position.

Torres slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Torres has his foot on Jin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jin works his way back into a safe position though.

Jin passes Torres's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Torres wants to get back to full guard.
Jin uses his free foot to push down on Torres's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Torres.
Jin tries to control but Torres wriggling away.

Torres is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Jin has taken his back.
You can see the frustration on Torres's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Torres is working hard here to advance position.

Jin is cranking Torres's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Torres! He's tightened the choke and Torres is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kobayashi Jin! Kobayashi Jin retains his welterweight title!
