Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Lomax (ranked 277 p4p, 38 weight class) and Robert Harper (ranked 533 p4p, 82 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harper throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Robert Harper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lomax scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Harper works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Harper shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lomax as he jumps to the side.
Lomax turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Lomax forces Harper back against the cage and clinches.
Lomax escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Harper looks to land a right hand but Lomax moved out of range.
Lomax has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Harper bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Lomax's head backwards.

Lomax tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Harper manages to circle out of the way.

Harper closes the distance and clinches up with Lomax, looking for a takedown. Harper pushes Lomax against the cage but Lomax circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Oooooh!!! Lomax has knocked Harper down with a huge combo! Lomax steps away and waves a wobbly Harper back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Harper fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lomax manages to avoid it.
Harper is still on wobbly legs! Can Lomax finish him?
Harper misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lomax.
Harper connects with a crisp jab.
Harper seems to have recovered his senses.
That kick from Lomax tenderised Harper's leg. Harper is trying to keep his angry face on.
Lomax throws a shot from downtown. Harper moves away and avoids it.
Harper shoots in and drives through. Lomax sprawls well.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Harper is defended easily by Lomax.

and Lomax counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Lomax forces Harper back against the cage and clinches.
Harper jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lomax walks away with a smile on his face. Harper gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Lomax counters with an outside leg kick.
Harper fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Harper shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lomax as he avoids it easily.
Harper fails with the takedown.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lomax digs a right hand into Harper's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Harper's gas tank.

The cut above Robert Harper's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Harper has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lomax avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
