Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jakis Triplin (ranked 4583 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tervel Pulev (ranked 4573 p4p, 0 weight class). Triplin's entrance music is France National Anthem. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tervel Pulev! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pulev has a takedown stuffed. Triplin clinches up with Pulev and pushes him back against the cage. Pulev goes for a takedown attempt but Triplin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Pulev shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Triplin seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Jakis Triplin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tervel Pulev. Triplin clinches up against the cage. Triplin stalls. Triplin pulls guard successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pulev looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Let's hope that Pulev has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Triplin has his foot on Pulev's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pulev works his way back into a safe position though. Pulev tries to free his leg and advance position but Triplin is retaining full guard. Triplin trying to keep a closed guard but Pulev is proving a slippery customer.
Triplin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Pulev. Pulev won't allow Triplin to sweep him here. Pulev wants to control from the top but Triplin keeps moving.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Triplin scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pulev wants to control but Triplin is keeping busy and won't allow it. Pulev tries to kick Triplin off but Triplin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Triplin is working for a kimura but Pulev is defending it quite comfortably.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pulev is looking to control Triplin but Triplin is wriggling around and keeping busy. Pulev gets his hands free as Triplin looks to control. Triplin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pulev on the ground. Triplin can't escape the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Triplin rolls, trying to escape but Pulev keeps control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Triplin fending off the submission attempt from Pulev. Pulev controls the action. Pulev looks winded!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Pulev is riding his opponent, not letting Triplin buck him off. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Tervel Pulev will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Triplin pushes Pulev up against the cage in a clinch. Pulev is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Triplin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Triplin breaks the clinch.
Triplin closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pulev quickly recovers to half guard. Triplin wants to work for an arm triangle but Pulev is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Triplin is figuring out what he wants to do next. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Triplin is looking to stall here but Pulev recovers full guard. Triplin trying to control but Pulev is working from the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pulev can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pulev keeping full guard, as Triplin tries to pass. Pulev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Triplin's guard. Triplin has a closed guard, preventing Pulev from standing up. Pulev works a leg free and moves into half guard. Pulev sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Triplin defending well though. Triplin controlling the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pulev prevents Triplin from improving his position. Triplin looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Triplin is looking to improve his position.
Pulev decides to stand up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Triplin ducks down and throws a hook to the body. No luck for Pulev with that takedown attempt. Pulev is breathing heavily. Triplin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pulev on his heels. He'll look to pass Pulev's guard now, I'm sure. Triplin wants to pass the guard but Pulev is keeping the position. Triplin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Triplin trying to control the position from guard on top but Pulev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Triplin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Triplin stands up from Pulev's guard - Triplin perhaps looking for a knockout. A right-left combo lands from Triplin.
It looks like Tervel Pulev has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pulev gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Triplin to score an easy takedown into full guard. Triplin stands up from Pulev's guard - Triplin perhaps looking for a knockout. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Triplin is looking to take a break and control but Pulev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Triplin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pulev has escaped the position, nice work there. Pulev stops Triplin from passing to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Pulev is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now. Pulev is not content to let Triplin control the position. Pulev is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Triplin off and has taken his back!

Jakis Triplin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Triplin breaks Pulev's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Triplin looking to sit in guard and control but Pulev gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jakis Triplin. Well Triplin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
