Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sitichai Silachai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cleyton Da Silva!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jonathan Paton and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Silva is trying hard to land a takedown here. Silachai sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Silachai throws a head kick that misses
and Da Silva counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silachai won't be happy with that.
Silachai is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Da Silva off and has taken his back!
Silachai keeps control of the position as Da Silva tries to break free.
Silachai has had enough of the ground game here. He feels he stands a better chance on the feet. Unfortunately for him though, Da Silva has grabbled a hold of his leg and manages a trip into side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Da Silva remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Da Silva postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Silachai is not content to let Da Silva control the position.
Silachai throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Silachai is looking to regain half guard here but Da Silva keeps moving and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Silachai strikes from the bottom but Da Silva takes advantage and advances to full mount!
Silachai has left one of his arms exposed and Da Silva doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Silachai screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
