Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Johnsen (ranked 3545 p4p, 378 weight class) and Rou Joukani (ranked 1900 p4p, 232 weight class). Rou Joukani has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ronnie Johnsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rou Joukani!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters circling a little - Joukani finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Johnsen closes the distance and clinches up with Joukani, looking for a takedown. Johnsen pushes Joukani against the cage but Joukani circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Joukani misses with a head kick.
Joukani smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Johnsen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Johnsen is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Joukani is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Joukani has escaped and now he's on top!

Johnsen can't keep his opponent in guard - Joukani advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Johnsen has his hands clasped together around Joukani's back. He's all about the action.
Johnsen is looking to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnsen is working hard here to advance position.
Joukani wants to take a breather but Johnsen is having none of it.
Johnsen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Johnsen tries to get out of the position.
Joukani wants to free his trapped foot but Johnsen is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnsen wants to improve his position but Joukani is controlling well.
Johnsen is staying active underneath Joukani, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Johnsen makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Johnsen.
Joukani wants to pass the guard but Johnsen is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Joukani preventing the sweep.
Johnsen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Joukani's guard.

Johnsen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Joukani manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Johnsen has Joukani in his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Joukani has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnsen is proving hard to escape from.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rou Joukani dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Johnsen shoots for a takedown but Joukani saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Johnsen fails with a takedown attempt.

Joukani lands a big head kick that sends Johnsen tumbling to the mat! Joukani takes a step backwards and waves Johnsen back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Ronnie Johnsen has been cut.
Joukani feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Johnsen's calf.
Joukani throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Joukani has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Johnsen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Joukani scores with a counter punch that sends Johnsen to the canvas! Joukani smells blood - he's punishing Johnsen with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Johnsen has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rou Joukani!
After the fight, Rou Joukani was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
