The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Statham closes the distance and clinches.
I was talking to Statham's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Roger misses with a punch to the body.
The referee calls for Statham to work.
Roger is working for takedown but Statham is calmly controlling the position for now.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roger has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Statham avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Roger has control of Statham's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Statham regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Statham defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Roger.

Well, with Roger on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Statham is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Roger has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Statham! Can he survive? No! He's out! Roger gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
