Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Walter O Flanigan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). O Flanigan's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Spicy McHaggis Jig. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Lyoto Maia!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by O Flanigan.
Maia moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Maia fails to land the takedown.
Maia looks to score with a jab to the body but O Flanigan is just out of range.
O Flanigan blocks a head kick by Maia.
Maia lands a nice looking kick to the body. O Flanigan takes a step back to recover.
O Flanigan is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
O Flanigan throws a big shot that misses.
O Flanigan works Maia's body with a nice hook.
Maia throws a solid leg kick but O Flanigan takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Maia.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
O Flanigan blocks a low kick nicely.

A swing and a miss from O Flanigan.
Maia throws a front kick aimed at O Flanigan's knee but O Flanigan avoids it well.
Maia changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. O Flanigan tries to avoid it but Maia manages to keep hold of a leg and drag O Flanigan to the ground. O Flanigan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
O Flanigan connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
O Flanigan misses with a body shot.
Maia shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has O Flanigan pinned against the cage. O Flanigan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Walter O Flanigan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lyoto Maia.

Maia thuds his shin into the meat of O Flanigan's side.
O Flanigan scores with a jab to the jaw.
Maia tries to close the distance and clinch but O Flanigan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Maia throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A nice inside leg kick there by Maia. That's going to slow O Flanigan down.

O Flanigan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Maia sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Maia pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Maia unloads with some shots from mount but O Flanigan bucks and avoids them well.

Maia jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… O Flanigan is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by O Flanigan and Maia has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
O Flanigan dodges the ground and pound from Maia.

A jab-cross combination lands for O Flanigan and sends Maia crashing to the mat! O Flanigan follows him down to the mat - Maia regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Maia seems to have recovered his senses.
O Flanigan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Maia with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

O Flanigan throws a nice looking combination but Maia bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
