Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Giuseppe Amodei (ranked 1249 p4p, 150 weight class) and Tzu Chu (ranked 1571 p4p, 176 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Giuseppe Amodei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tzu Chu!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amodei looks for the body kick but Chu saw that one coming.
Amodei fails with a takedown attempt.
Chu blocks the body kick.
Chu misses the jab.
Chu misses with a double jab.
Chu bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Chu stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Amodei.
A lazy left from Chu finds it's target.
Chu uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Amodei.
Amodei defending well as Chu loads up on a big left hand.
Chu tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Amodei was well out of range. Poor timing from Chu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chu throws a hook but Amodei blocks it.

Chu moves into range and clinches up with Amodei.
Chu lands an elbow that stopped Amodei in his tracks for a moment.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Chu.
Chu misses with a body punch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Chu just misses with a elbow thrown towards Amodei's brow.

Chu works on Amodei's body with a couple of short punches.
Amodei misses with a short punch on the inside.
Chu scores with a nice hook to the head.
Amodei tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Amodei blocks an uppercut.

A slow jab from Chu misses its intended target.
Tzu Chu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Chu lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Chu misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Chu lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
A nice inside leg kick there by Amodei. That's going to slow Chu down.

enabling Amodei to counter with a crisp jab.
Tzu Chu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chu works over Amodei's head and body with a nice combination.

A little jabbing left from Chu on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Amodei feints and then cracks Chu's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Chu down.

and Chu takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Chu has taken the fight to the clinch.
Amodei misses with some punches.
Chu misses with the head strike.
Chu tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Amodei's elbow.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Amodei creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Chu misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Chu misses with a shot to the kidneys.
A head punch on the inside from Chu fails to land.
Chu tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Chu misses with a hook to the ribs.

Amodei pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Chu fails to land with a series of punches.
Amodei displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Chu throws out the jab.
Chu blocks a low kick nicely.
Amodei walks into a straight right hand from Chu.
A lazy left from Chu finds it's target.
Chu misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Amodei.
Amodei attempts a counter takedown but Chu avoids it well and moves away.
Chu throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Chu misses with a wild body shot.

Amodei throws a nice inside leg kick.
Chu throws a series of punches but Amodei moves out of range.
Amodei changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Chu looks to throw the jab but Amodei is out of range.
Chu takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Chu swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Chu throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Chu takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Chu lands with a cross.
Chu takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Chu throws the left hand but Amodei avoids the punch easily.
Amodei moves away from the strike by Chu.
A big left from Chu misses.
A combination from Chu does no damage.

Amodei scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Amodei wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Chu, who protects the arm well.

Amodei working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Chu is trying to control Amodei's posture but Amodei avoids it.
Chu has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Amodei is looking to take a break and control but Chu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Amodei passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Chu!
Chu is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Chu tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tzu Chu will probably get the nod.
That's time! Amodei's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Amodei missing with a left hand there. Chu was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Chu lands with a good body shot.
Chu takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Amodei is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Chu looks to land a combination but Amodei avoids it well.
Chu throws a nice looking combination but Amodei bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Amodei fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chu avoids it really well and circles away.

Chu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Amodei circles away quickly and effectively.

Amodei has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chu can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Amodei has his foot on Chu's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chu works his way back into a safe position though.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Amodei is on top in guard.

Amodei postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Chu is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Amodei, into his guard.

Amodei is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A close second round but Tzu Chu will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Amodei looks to land a combination but Chu avoids it well.
Chu misses with a series of wild punches.

and Amodei counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Chu throws a jab but it's blocked by Amodei.
It looks like Amodei has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Chu will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Tzu Chu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Amodei is pushing Chu up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Chu throws a looping overhand right but Amodei ducks down to avoid it.

Amodei's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Chu connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Amodei scrambles back to his feet.

Amodei takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Tzu Chu has been cut.

Amodei lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Amodei throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chu.
Amodei finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Amodei tries to pull guard but Chu forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Chu lands with a light punch inside.
Tzu Chu is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Chu pushes off an throws an elbow but Amodei leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Chu lands an elbow that stopped Amodei in his tracks for a moment.

Amodei avoids a wild elbow strike from Chu.

Chu throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Amodei appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Amodei on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tzu Chu comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Chu winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
