Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between CJ Tripp (ranked 692 p4p, 99 weight class) and Julio Regueiro (ranked 539 p4p, 79 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, CJ Tripp! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Julio Regueiro! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Regueiro moves out of range of the strikes. A countering left hand to the body from Regueiro misses. Regueiro lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Tripp steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Regueiro. Regueiro cracks Tripp with a right hand to the side of the head. Tripp checks a low kick from Regueiro. Regueiro tried to score with a low kick but Tripp checks it. A left lands for Regueiro. Regueiro clinches. Regueiro lands with a light punch inside. Tripp tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Regueiro's elbow. Regueiro scores with an uppercut up the middle. Regueiro fails to pull guard.
A nice right hand lands inside from Regueiro. Regueiro can't find room to land a body shot as Tripp controls the action.
Regueiro escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The fight stays on the outside here - Regueiro looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Regueiro shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tripp napping and manages to drive through into side control! Tripp's coaches at Ryōzanpaku Dojo have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Tripp tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Regueiro wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Regueiro thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Regueiro swings around for an armbar but Tripp sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Regueiro's guard. Tripp has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Regueiro had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tripp defends it easily. Regueiro working for a triangle but Tripp defends it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Regueiro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tripp can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Regueiro bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tripp's guard. Regueiro slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Tripp not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Regueiro is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Regueiro seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Regueiro drops back looking for a leg! Tripp is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tripp manages to kick Regueiro off! Regueiro jumps back into Tripp's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Tripp keeping full guard, as Regueiro tries to pass. Tripp controls Regueiro momentarily but Regueiro frees himself. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Regueiro stays in close to Tripp's body and controls the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Julio Regueiro dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Regueiro fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tripp, pushing him back against the cage. Regueiro jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tripp walks away with a smile on his face. Regueiro gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Good exchange - Regueiro coming out on top. Regueiro cracks a nice hook into Tripp's ribs. Regueiro has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Tripp moves away from the strike by Regueiro. Tripp avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A jab from Tripp misses. Tripp ducks under a wild hook from Regueiro. Tripp swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Tripp misses with a wild body shot. Tripp avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Regueiro is looking to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tripp fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Regueiro tries to clinch but Tripp is having none of it. It looked like Tripp wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Julio Regueiro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tripp fails to land with a series of punches.

Regueiro jabbing away but nothing is landing. Tripp uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Regueiro. Tripp was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
That's one minute gone in the round. Regueiro fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Tripp has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Tripp defending well as Regueiro loads up on a big left hand. A telegraphed right hand from Regueiro misses the target. Tripp just misses with a punch to the body.
Regueiro slips under a jab from Tripp. A head kick misses from Tripp. Tripp fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Regueiro manages to avoid it. Regueiro swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Regueiro closes the distance and clinches. Regueiro works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Regueiro tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tripp just stands there and leans against the cage. Regueiro blocking some punches.

Regueiro pulls guard effortlessly. Regueiro throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Tripp escapes and throws Regueiro's legs to the side, diving into side control! Tripp wants to stand but Regueiro is controlling his arm.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Regueiro is trying to work for a sweep but Tripp has mounted him! Tripp knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Regueiro on the ground. Tripp controlling the pace for now. Tripp can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Regueiro is looking to escape. Tripp content just to control the position here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Tripp tries to control but Regueiro wriggling away. Tripp tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. That was a close second round but I would say that CJ Tripp will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Regueiro lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Regueiro moves into range and clinches up with Tripp. Regueiro tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Tripp smiles and moves away.
CJ Tripp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julio Regueiro. Tripp ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. A jab from Regueiro misses. Tripp uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Regueiro. Regueiro lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Regueiro. Tripp lands with a hook. Regueiro tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Regueiro swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Tripp creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Regueiro jumps guard but Tripp stands there with Regueiro around his waist. Regueiro gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Regueiro has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Tripp seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Regueiro can turn it around. A head punch blocked on the inside by Regueiro. Regueiro tries to pull guard but Tripp won't allow it.

Regueiro can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tripp controls the pace. Tripp tries to free his leg and advance position but Regueiro is retaining full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Regueiro has his foot on Tripp's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tripp works his way back into a safe position though. Regueiro managing to control the position. Regueiro is trying to control the position but Tripp postures up. Tripp wants to get up but he can't break Regueiro's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Julio Regueiro. Well Regueiro has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
