PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Bogger (ranked 1866 p4p, 233 weight class) and Jonathan Archer (ranked 1222 p4p, 153 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, James Bogger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonathan Archer!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Franklyn Lucas and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bogger throws a leg kick but Archer checks it.
Bogger pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Bogger just misses with a punch to the body.
Bogger swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Archer has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Bogger is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Bogger looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Archer tries to clinch up but Bogger circles away and keeps his distance.
Bogger bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Bogger takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

It looks like James Bogger has been cut.
Archer connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
James Bogger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Archer tries to close the distance and clinch but Bogger swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bogger takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Archer moves in looking to clinch but Bogger pushes him off.

Archer scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Archer swings wildly with an uppercut but Bogger uses good head movement to avoid it.

Bogger is trying to break the clinch but Archer is controlling him.

Archer has Bogger pressed against the cage, preventing Bogger from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Archer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Bogger momentarily.
Bogger throws a half hearted mid kick.

Archer cracks Bogger with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Bogger looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Archer finish him?


Bogger is rocked!
Bogger switches off momentarily and Archer cracks him with a monster right hand! Bogger topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Archer dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Archer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jonathan Archer!
After winning the bout, Jonathan Archer thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
