The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez stuffs the takedown.

and Martinez counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mike thinking.
Martinez looks to land a combination. Mike sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like Johhny Mike has been cut.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Mike takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
We've been informed that Mike has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Martinez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mike walks away with a smile on his face. Martinez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Martinez is looking to stand back up but Mike counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Martinez.
Mike working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Mike is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Martinez is in trouble now - Mike has advanced to mount!
Mike takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mike working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Martinez turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Mike off and cradles Martinez's limp body as Mike celebrates with his corner.
