Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Moe Lester! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Neil Diaz! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Diaz. Diaz turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Lester tries to clinch but Diaz moves out of range. Diaz misses the shot to the body. Diaz lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Lester at a distance.
Diaz misses with a series of wild punches.
Lester missing with a left hand there. Diaz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. As Lester backs off Diaz throws a huge counter combo but Lester manages to avoid it all. Diaz looks to score with a jab to the body but Lester is just out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Diaz misses with a wild body shot. Diaz throws a combination that misses and Lester cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Nice uppercut lands for Diaz. That snapped Lester's head back.
It looks like Moe Lester has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloppy strikes from Diaz. Those never looked like landing. Lester misses the shot to the body. Diaz looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Diaz jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Diaz ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Diaz lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lester backs up against the cage.
Diaz looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Diaz throws a sloppy head kick and Lester cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Diaz comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Lester throws a shot from downtown. Diaz moves away and avoids it. Diaz is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. A punch combination from Diaz misses. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lester tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Diaz was well out of range. Poor timing from Lester. Lester throws a right hand that misses
and Diaz counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Lester! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Diaz!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Neil Diaz! A relieved looking Neil Diaz thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
