Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between George Backman (ranked 4193 p4p, 349 weight class) and Phillip Terrell (ranked 3092 p4p, 280 weight class). Terrell has chosen Jammin as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, George Backman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Phillip Terrell!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Sergei Dronov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Backman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Terrell moves away.
Terrell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Terrell misses with a body kick.
Backman lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Terrell circles away quickly and effectively.
Terrell throws a nice outside leg kick.
A clash of legs there as Backman blocks the low kick.
Backman falls off balance throwing a combination
and Terrell counters with a flying knee. Nice.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Terrell throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
As Terrell looks to move away, Backman throws a big counter combo but Terrell just gets out of the way.
Terrell has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Backman is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Backman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Backman throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Terrell stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Backman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That was a close round but I would say that George Backman will probably get the nod.

Phillip Terrell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

I would just about give that final round to Phillip Terrell.
Well Terrell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Phillip Terrell decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
