Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Christian Neffgen (ranked 6168 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hakim Rubson (ranked 7127 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Christian Neffgen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hakim Rubson! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Neffgen scores with a one two! Rubson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Rubson goes for a double leg but Neffgen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Neffgen continues to drive forward. Rubson connects with a leg kick. Neffgen looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Rubson avoids the head kick by Neffgen.
Rubson is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Rubson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Neffgen forces Rubson back against the cage and clinches. Neffgen looks to throw an elbow but misses. Neffgen blocks an elbow strike from Rubson.

It looks like Rubson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rubson controlling from the top position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Neffgen connects with a high kick. Neffgen tries a head kick but it misses.

Rubson darts in looking for a takedown but Neffgen gets double underhooks and turns Rubson into the cage. Neffgen rushes Rubson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Neffgen is trying to pull guard but Rubson has him pressed against the cage. Neffgen dodges an elbow strike from Rubson.
Neffgen has been working on his balance at Cozad The Island, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Rubson.

Neffgen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rubson controls the pace. Neffgen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Rubson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Rubson bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Neffgen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Rubson is looking for the big counter here. Neffgen throws a right and a left that both miss. Rubson has taken the fight to the clinch.

Hakim Rubson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Neffgen is trying to pull guard but Rubson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Rubson creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Neffgen's defenses. Rubson lands an elbow just above Neffgen 's eye. Rubson missing with knees to the body.
Neffgen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Neffgen pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Rubson. Neffgen can't break the clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Hakim Rubson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Rubson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
