Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zack Skinner (ranked 1343 p4p, 168 weight class) and Patrick Bateman (ranked 2040 p4p, 248 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zack Skinner!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick Bateman!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bateman goes for a double leg but Skinner avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Skinner continues to drive forward.
Patrick Bateman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bateman darts in looking for a takedown but Skinner gets double underhooks and turns Bateman into the cage.
Bateman shoots in looking for a takedown but Skinner manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bateman's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Zack Skinner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Bateman.

It looks like Patrick Bateman has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bateman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Skinner wants to stand and escape but Bateman is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Skinner controls Bateman momentarily but Bateman frees himself.

Bateman slips a nice elbow through Skinner's hands, connecting with Skinner's forehead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Skinner is trying to maintain the position but Bateman is very close to passing his half guard.
Bateman drops an elbow to the side of Skinner's head.
Skinner is staying active underneath Bateman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bateman winds up and cracks Skinner with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
My spies in Brooklyn MMA inform me that Bateman has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Patrick Bateman decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
