The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovalov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kovalov fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kovalov tries to keep at a distance but Medvedevs has taken the fight into the clinch.
Medvedevs keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kovalov's efforts to push away.
Kovalov lands a body shot.
Medvedevs breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Medvedevs shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kovalov but Kovalov pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kovalov throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kovalov lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Medvedevs goes down and covers up as Kovalov starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!
