PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Bonsai (ranked 5635 p4p, 492 weight class) and Benjamin Sisko (ranked 5213 p4p, 474 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeff Bonsai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Benjamin Sisko!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sisko looks to land a combination but Bonsai avoids it well.
Bonsai lands a slapping body shot.
Sisko closes the distance and clinches up with Bonsai, looking for a takedown. Sisko pushes Bonsai against the cage but Bonsai circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sisko uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bonsai.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Sisko! But no joy.
Sisko shoots in but Bonsai avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bonsai changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Sisko moves forwards but Bonsai connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Bonsai cracks Sisko with an uppercut from hell and Sisko crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Bonsai's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!


Sisko is rocked!


It looks like Benjamin Sisko has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bonsai sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Sisko is still in real trouble! Can Bonsai finish him?
Bonsai seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sisko for as long as he can get away with.
Bonsai continues to stall.
Sisko seems to have recovered his senses.
Bonsai trying to control the position from guard on top but Sisko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bonsai content to stall in guard here.
Bonsai trying to control but Sisko is working from the bottom.

Sisko pushes Bonsai off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Sisko tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bonsai swivels and escapes.
Jeff Bonsai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benjamin Sisko.

Sisko has closed the distance and engaged Bonsai in a clinch.
Sisko stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Sisko prevents the takedown attempt.

Sisko has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bonsai uses from the top position.
Bonsai slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Our spies down at at Star Studded Beef inform us that Sisko has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Sisko wants to stand and escape but Bonsai is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sisko keeping moving, preventing Bonsai from controlling successfully.
Sisko being controlled here, momentarily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bonsai wants to control from the top but Sisko keeps moving.
Sisko wants to stand and escape but Bonsai is having none of it.
Bonsai trying to control but Sisko is working from the bottom.
Sisko wants to stand but Bonsai is controlling the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Bonsai uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sisko.
Bonsai scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bonsai rushes Sisko with punches - Sisko moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Sisko goes down! Bonsai follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeff Bonsai!
