Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Travis Macmacson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Merel!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merel shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Macmacson sprawls well. Macmacson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Merel gets slowly back to his feet.
Macmacson connects with a leg kick. Merel looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Merel avoids the head kick by Macmacson.
Macmacson on the wrong end of a nice jab.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Macmacson is trying to break the clinch but Merel is controlling him.
Merel struggles to land a body shot inside as Macmacson controls his hands.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Macmacson wants to control from the top but Merel keeps moving.
Merel controls Macmacson momentarily but Macmacson frees himself.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Merel felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Merel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Merel cracks Macmacson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Mark Merel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Macmacson throws a sloppy head kick and Merel moves out of range easily.
Macmacson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Merel but Merel pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mark Merel seems to be getting the better of the standup.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Macmacson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Macmacson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Merel to the mat! Merel manages to get full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Merel is pulling down on Macmacson's head. It's preventing any offense from Macmacson, at least for the moment.

Travis Macmacson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Merel is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

I would just about give that final round to Mark Merel.
