Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takashi Kakihara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Filipunaki! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Fujiwara and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kakihara walks into a straight right hand from Filipunaki.
It looks like Takashi Kakihara has been cut. Filipunaki throws a nice outside leg kick. Filipunaki misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Filipunaki tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Kakihara scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Filipunaki stops Kakihara from passing to mount. Filipunaki is looking to reverse the position. Filipunaki looking for a sweep but Kakihara has passed into full mount! Oh no! Filipunaki has given up his back. Will we see Kakihara going for some submissions?

That's one minute gone in the round. Kakihara has good solid back control here. Filipunaki tries to roll but Kakihara sticks to his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kakihara has his opponent's back but Filipunaki is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Kakihara. Filipunaki tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Filipunaki works over Kakihara's head and body with a nice combination. Filipunaki tries for a takedown but Kakihara circles away easily and Kakihara counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Filipunaki! Filipunaki looks gassed! Kakihara has hold of Filipunaki's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Filipunaki manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Filipunaki is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kakihara has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Filipunaki is forced to tap!
