TWGC 27 (185lbs, D4): Montreal Qualifier - Round 1 PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Saul Goodman (ranked 23866 p4p, 566 weight class) and Umberto Grena (ranked 16532 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Saul Goodman! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 1 losses; Umberto Grena! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Goodman pushes Grena up against the cage in a clinch. Grena has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Goodman regains guard immediately. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Goodman (0) vs (2) Grena Goodman trying to control the position.
Goodman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Grena passes Goodman's left leg - he's now in half guard. Goodman is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Grena has latched onto it... Big trouble! Grena pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Goodman is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Grena!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Umberto Grena! A less than humble Umberto Grena misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities. |
