Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aslan Karimov (ranked 5179 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bjorn Akerfeldt (ranked 6982 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jonathan Paton and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akerfeldt moves in looking to clinch but Karimov pushes him off.
Akerfeldt scores with a decent looking hook.
Karimov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Akerfeldt had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Karimov defends it easily.
Karimov landing some decent shots from guard.
Karimov wants to control from the top but Akerfeldt keeps moving.
Karimov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Karimov postures up and lands a big shot to Akerfeldt's brow.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Karimov is looking to improve his position but Akerfeldt isn't that keen on the idea.
Karimov avoids a series of strikes thrown by Akerfeldt.

Akerfeldt stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Karimov is stalling here. Akerfeldt is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Karimov seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Akerfeldt has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Karimov goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Akerfeldt rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Karimov's guard! Nice work there by Akerfeldt!
Akerfeldt decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Akerfeldt goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Karimov leaves Akerfeldt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Karimov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Akerfeldt is just riding it out for now. Karimov eventually gives up the hold.

Akerfeldt goes for a double leg but Karimov avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Karimov continues to drive forward.

Karimov shoots in for a takedown but Akerfeldt shows good takedown defense.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Karimov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Akerfeldt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Karimov swings around for an armbar but Akerfeldt sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Karimov's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Akerfeldt drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Akerfeldt jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Karimov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Akerfeldt is aware though and is defending well.

Karimov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Akerfeldt swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Karimov content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Karimov won't allow Akerfeldt to get back to his feet.
Karimov postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Akerfeldt covers up, he's hurt! Karimov keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Karimov and the ref steps in to end the fight! Karimov can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
