Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 11 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Perry St Hype! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Deal! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! St Hype darts in and clinches Deal up against the cage. A nice right hand lands inside from Deal. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Deal. St Hype's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Deal lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Deal avoids a wild elbow strike from St Hype. Deal creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Deal is trying to force a seperation but St Hype has the dominant position. St Hype lands a hook that snaps the head of Deal backwards. Deal makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. St Hype lands a nice shot to the body. St Hype lands a good knee to the midsection. Deal won't want to take too many of those. Deal tries a body shot but St Hype blocks it.
Deal escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. St Hype throws a looping overhand right but Deal ducks down to avoid it. Deal pulls out of a head kick attempt.
St Hype fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Deal manages to avoid it. St Hype swings for the body but Deal moves out of range.
St Hype tried to score with a low kick but Deal checks it. St Hype misses with a looping left. Deal shapes to counter with a head kick. St Hype lands with a cross. St Hype does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Deal plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
That's one minute gone in the round. Jab, jab by Deal - just one landing. Deal throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Deal tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Deal tries a head kick but it misses.
St Hype tries to counter with a takedown but Deal is quick to defend against it. Crunch! Deal slams his shin into St Hype's torso. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! St Hype connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Deal misses with a wild combination.
St Hype fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Deal is out of range. St Hype lands a nice leg kick that just misses Deal's sensitive parts. St Hype blocks a head kick by Deal.
Deal cracks St Hype with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Deal dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on St Hype. That did some damage! Chris Deal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Deal scores with a jab. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Deal getting the better of the striking in that exchange. St Hype tests Deal's chin there with a solid looking shot. Deal digs a good body shot into St Hype's ribs. A swing and a miss from St Hype. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Deal checks a leg kick. Deal pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Deal moves out of range of the body kick. Deal raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Deal slips a jab from St Hype. Deal thinks about the counter body kick. Deal moves out of range of the strikes. Deal moves out of range of the strikes. Deal works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Deal looks to land a combination. St Hype sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. St Hype misses with the combination.
Deal fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Deal! St Hype is out on his feet! Deal rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - St Hype is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! St Hype is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Deal! Chris Deal decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
