TWGC 27 (185lbs, D2): London Qualifier - Round 2 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a middleweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Piotr Boryska (ranked 1838 p4p, 240 weight class) and Sao Alela (ranked 971 p4p, 0 weight class). Alela comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Raise Hell (MOP) kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Sao Alela told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Piotr Boryska! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Sao Alela!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Steven Brown and William Gold.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Alela goes for a double leg but Boryska avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Boryska continues to drive forward.

Boryska closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Alela can't do much from the bottom here.

Boryska looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Alela is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boryska tries to advance to mount but Alela denies him.
We've been hearing that Boryska has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Alela seems to be working for a kimura but Boryska defends the submission attempt.
Boryska is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boryska bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alela's guard.

Boryska stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alela swivels though and keeps the full guard.
