TWGC 27 (185lbs, D4): London Qualifier - Round 2 PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Chuck Lee (ranked 6426 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Vela (ranked 4187 p4p, 454 weight class). Lee comes into the arena with Titties and Coke "subliminal messages" blaring out of the sound system. Chuck Lee is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Chuck Lee! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Pedro Vela! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and James Atkins.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Lee gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Lee is working for takedown but Vela is calmly controlling the position for now. Vela is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Lee gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Lee pulls guard effortlessly. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lee has his foot on Vela's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vela works his way back into a safe position though. Vela slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Vela drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lee manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Vela has Lee in his guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Lee (2) vs (0) Vela Our spies down at at Top Gun Academy inform us that Vela has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee preventing the sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vela throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Vela working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lee doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Vela is tightening it up a little... Lee has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Lee reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Lee taps out! Nice BJJ there by Vela!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Pedro Vela! |
