Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kolbee Owens (ranked 1848 p4p, 215 weight class) and Cabasa Punyawong (ranked 2184 p4p, 240 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Owens might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Destroyer. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kolbee Owens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Cabasa Punyawong!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Alyssa Summers and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owens just misses with a punch to the body.
Punyawong tries to score with a low kick but Owens moves his leg out of the way.
Owens drops down looking for a counter takedown but Punyawong sprawls and moves away.
Punyawong takes a swing at Owens's ribcage but misses.
A big left from Punyawong misses.
Owens lands with a nice body punch.
Owens lands a jab to Punyawong's midsection.
Punyawong looks to score with a jab to the body but Owens is just out of range.
Punyawong fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Owens checks it well.
Punyawong takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Owens on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Punyawong. Punyawong obviously looking to wear him down.
We've been hearing reports that Owens has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Owens throws an off balance right hand
and Punyawong counters with a nice leg kick.
Owens misses with an uppercut
and Punyawong counters with a nice uppercut.

Owens drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Punyawong preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Punyawong can do anything to dispel that myth.
Owens trying to control but Punyawong is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Owens scoring with punches to the head and body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Owens postures up in Punyawong's guard and throws a big left but Punyawong blocks it.
Owens with a flurry of punches that miss.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Owens accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Owens postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Owens scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Owens throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Punyawong works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Owens lands a couple of elbows.
Punyawong controlling Owens's posture.
Punyawong preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Punyawong has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Punyawong keeping full guard, as Owens tries to pass.
Punyawong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Owens. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Punyawong keeping moving, preventing Owens from controlling successfully.
Punyawong working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Owens.
Punyawong looking to hit a scissor sweep but Owens is one step ahead there.
Owens looking to pass the guard.
Owens missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Owens trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Punyawong manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!


That's three minutes gone in the round.

Owens looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Owens looking to hit a scissor sweep but Punyawong is one step ahead there.

Owens has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Punyawong can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Owens has Punyawong pulled in close to control his posture.

Owens escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Punyawong gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Owens looking to hit a scissor sweep but Punyawong is one step ahead there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Owens working for submissions but it's allowed Punyawong to get to half guard.
Punyawong is trying to control. Owens wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Punyawong is pressing down on Owens's thigh, looking to free his foot. Owens is holding on for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Owens has a hand on Punyawong's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Punyawong takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Owens is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kolbee Owens will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Owens throws a right hand that misses
and Punyawong counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Punyawong throws a leg kick but Owens checks it.
Punyawong throws a hook but Owens blocks it.

Punyawong lands a big head kick that sends Owens tumbling to the mat! Punyawong takes a step backwards and waves Owens back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Owens is rocked!
Punyawong and Owens are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Punyawong throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Owens into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Punyawong knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Cabasa Punyawong!
A very excited looking Cabasa Punyawong made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
The defeated Kolbee Owens had this to say: 'I really put everything into this camp and match up, really going to need to go back to the drawing board after this one. Sorry to anyone I disappointed but I'll be back, I promise.'.
