Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Howlett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Artemis Entreri! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Bruno Lombardi and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Howlett crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Entreri - the referee stops the clock and Howlett gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Entreri. Howlett manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Howlett gets in close and instigates a clinch. Entreri looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Entreri told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight. Howlett prevents Entreri from breaking the clinch. Entreri's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Entreri throws a head kick but Howlett moves out of range.
Howlett clinches up with Entreri and pushes him back against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Entreri's face as he tries to break the clinch. Entreri wants to break free but Howlett has control.
Howlett pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Entreri has had enough of the clinch but Howlett keeps him there for the moment. Entreri manages to break the clinch.
Howlett checks the leg kick. Entreri moves out of range of the leg kick from Howlett. Entreri dodges the punch combination from Howlett.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Howlett throws a half hearted mid kick. Howlett moves into the clinch. Entreri can't break the clinch.
Howlett lands an elbow that stopped Entreri in his tracks for a moment. I was talking to Howlett's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Howlett tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Howlett lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Entreri breaks from the clinch.
Howlett rushes Entreri and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Howlett holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Entreri tries to pull guard but Howlett forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Howlett using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Entreri jumps guard but Howlett stands there with Entreri around his waist. Entreri gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Howlett unloads a knee to the mid-section. Entreri lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Howlett will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Entreri up against the cage. Howlett has Entreri pressed against the cage, preventing Entreri from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Howlett using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Entreri blocks an elbow strike from Howlett.
Entreri is trying to break the clinch but Howlett is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Howlett tries a knee to the head but Entreri blocks it.
Entreri escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Howlett rushes Entreri and presses him up against the cage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Entreri on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Entreri manages to break the clinch.
Entreri throws a half hearted mid kick. Howlett waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Entreri. Howlett avoids the head kick by Entreri.
Entreri throws a head kick that misses. Entreri gets a takedown into half guard. Howlett is doing well to control the position and prevent Entreri from advancing to side control. Entreri is keen to just control but Howlett is a slippery customer. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Entreri in particular looking to stall.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Entreri thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Entreri is figuring out what he wants to do next. Howlett is looking to improve his position.
Howlett controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Entreri seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Howlett is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
