5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Johnson! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fjordlinginsson drives through with a takedown into Johnson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Johnson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Fjordlinginsson is controlling him. Fjordlinginsson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fjordlinginsson stops Johnson from standing up. Fjordlinginsson has gone for a leg lock! Johnson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Fjordlinginsson's guard.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fjordlinginsson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Fjordlinginsson wants to sweep here but Johnson controlling him for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fjordlinginsson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Fjordlinginsson's legs - danger averted. Fjordlinginsson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fjordlinginsson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Johnson's guard. Fjordlinginsson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
