Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Filip Quintana (ranked 4901 p4p, 443 weight class) and Jose Noel Ruiz (ranked 4970 p4p, 445 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Filip Quintana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Noel Ruiz! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Chris Edwards and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quintana shoots in and gets a takedown into Ruiz's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Quintana controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Quintana distracts Ruiz with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Quintana in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Quintana throws a big right hand that misses. Ruiz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quintana. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Quintana trying to control but Ruiz is working from the bottom. Quintana is standing up over Ruiz. Ruiz looks to escape but Quintana dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Quintana tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ruiz wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quintana fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Quintana taking a breather here. Ruiz takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Ruiz gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Ruiz wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Quintana lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Quintana punching from mount but Ruiz doing a good job of avoiding damage. Ruiz wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Quintana.
Quintana controlling from mount. Quintana cracks Ruiz with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Ruiz is rocked! Quintana lands a big elbow - Ruiz is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Ruiz is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Filip Quintana! A very excited looking Filip Quintana made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
