Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Strange (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mau Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Adam Strange!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mau Castro!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strange fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Castro manages to avoid it.
Strange rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Castro moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Strange throws a sloppy head kick and Castro moves out of range easily.
Nice sprawl there from Strange as Castro shoots in.
Castro doesn't manage to clinch there - Strange circles away.
Strange throws a leg kick but Castro moved away.
Strange looks to land a body kick but Castro moved away.
Strange lands with a shot to the body.
Castro shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Strange as he avoids it easily.
Strange throws a right hand that Castro ducks under and follows up with a left that Castro also avoids with ease.
Castro tries to close the distance and clinch but Strange swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A punch combination from Strange misses.
Strange thows a body shot but no joy.
A slapping body kick lands there for Castro.
Strange keeps the fight on the outside.

Strange shoots in and bounces Castro off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Strange decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Castro gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Strange counters with a nice double leg into side control. Castro won't be happy with that.
Adam Strange has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mau Castro.
Strange is breathing heavily.
Castro is letting Strange control him for a moment.
Strange has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Strange stands up and beckons Castro to his feet.
Strange misses with a two punch combination.

Castro wants to clinch.
Castro takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Strange connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Castro gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Strange counters with a straight right hand.
Strange lands a glancing blow to the side of Castro's head.

and Strange makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Strange shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Strange content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Castro shoots and misses

and Strange counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Strange seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Strange stands up from Castro's guard - Strange perhaps looking for a knockout.
Strange misses with the combination.
No joy there for Strange, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Strange controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Strange seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Castro is on top in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Castro accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Strange is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Castro is controlling him.
Strange wants to sweep but no luck.
Strange is pulling down on Castro's head to control his posture.

Strange scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Strange works over Castro's head and body with a nice combination.
Strange tries a head kick but it misses.
Castro tries to clinch but Strange moves away
and Strange counters with a left and a right that stings Castro.
Strange fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Strange dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Castro.

It looks like Mau Castro has been cut.
Strange misses with a low kick.
Strange is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Castro can do to turn this around?

Strange knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Castro on the ground.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Strange thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Castro's head.
Strange tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Castro.
Strange wants to pass to mount but Castro is defending the position.
Strange tries to stand but can't do so whilst Castro controls his leg.

Strange perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Castro moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Adam Strange overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Castro keeping moving, preventing Strange from controlling successfully.

Castro looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Castro can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Strange controls the pace.

Castro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Strange can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Strange is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mau Castro has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Strange's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Castro had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Strange is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Castro Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Strange's back instead.
Adam Strange is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Castro throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Well Strange has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
