Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Bailey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pete Whitehouse! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, David Hoff and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Whitehouse darts in trying to clinch and Bailey counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Whitehouse clinches. Bailey breaks the clinch.
Whitehouse feints and as Bailey raises his hands in defense, Whitehouse changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Bailey trying to control the position.
Whitehouse is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Whitehouse is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bailey is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bailey has escaped and now he's on top!
That's one minute gone in the round. Whitehouse is controlling Bailey's posture. Whitehouse throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Bailey looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Bailey wants to control from the top but Whitehouse keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Whitehouse is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Whitehouse tries for a takedown but Bailey circles away easily and Bailey counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Whitehouse with a poor takedown and Bailey counters with a crisp one two that drops Whitehouse! Bailey thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Whitehouse to his feet! Whitehouse is in big trouble!
Whitehouse is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bailey knocks out Whitehouse with a massive right hand! The ref tackles Bailey before he can follow up with any more strikes and that's it everyone. Bailey picks up the big W with a huge KO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). James Bailey!
